MANDATORY COVID VACCINATIONS
Ontario Tech University has implemented a mandatory COVID vaccination policy for all persons entering campus buildings. This policy adheres to the recent announcement by the Government of Ontario, that all non-essential businesses, including theatres and concert halls, will require proof of vaccination. Going forward, and until further notice, patrons attending events at the Regent Theatre will be required to be fully vaccinated. The safety of our staff, entertainers and patrons are of the utmost importance.
HOW IT WORKS
Patrons who have already purchased tickets for events coming up in late 2021 and early 2022, will be contacted in September with instructions on how to provide proof of vaccination.
New ticket buyers will receive a message online warning them of the vaccine requirement before they purchase their tickets. They will be sent a follow up email with instructions for providing proof of vaccination in advance of the event date. At this time, regulations require patrons to show their second-dose vaccine receipt along with a valid photo I.D. card.
Current health regulations require wearing a mask and maintaining physical distancing for all patrons, even if our entire audience is vaccinated. This may change over the coming weeks or months, and we will keep you informed with any updates.
In addition, our staff will be fully vaccinated, using PPE, and providing robust cleaning protocols before and throughout the event to keep our patrons safe. We have also upgraded the filters in our air conditioning system to the latest technology to screen out viruses and other airborne pathogens.
For Your Safety
The Regent Theatre has been recognized by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario for our adoption of the worldwide industry protocols for health and hygiene. As such, we have received the “Safe Travel Stamp” which indicates the highest standards of COVID protocols for staff and patron safety.
Additionally, we have committed to the POST Promise (People Outside Safely Together), a self-declaration from a business to its customers that we are working to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The promises include; Physical Distancing, Wear a Face Cover When Required, Additional Cleaning & Preventive Measures, Screening for COVID and Encouraging Vaccination.
Ever-changing government health mandates regarding physical distancing, can impact the number of patrons that we are permitted to have in the theatre. As a result, the following changes to our upcoming events may be necessary:
- For upcoming events with a large number of tickets already sold, and where physical distancing is not possible, we may be required to postpone these performances until 2022. We will contact all ticket holders with updates where applicable.
- Smaller events could proceed as scheduled, but due to physical distancing requirements, some existing seats may need to be re-assigned. We will contact patrons directly affected by this well before the event date.
- If patrons are unable to attend a newly rescheduled event date, they will receive instructions regarding the refund process.
- For upcoming events that proceed as scheduled, patrons who have not been fully vaccinated will receive instructions on how to obtain a refund.
Please be patient, as these changes will be implemented throughout the month of September. Decisions will be made on an event-by-event basis utilizing the latest guidance from the Durham Region Health Department. You can be confident that we will look after all our patrons.
