FIVE MAN ELECTRICAL BAND
The Five Man Electrical Band were formed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in the 1960’s (originally known as The Staccatos from 1963–68).
After multiple American tours with groups like The Allman Brothers, Edgar Winter, Sly And The Family Stone, there first hit “Signs” exploded onto the charts in 1971 in the USA, Canada and Australia. A string of hits followed: “Absolutely Right”, “Money Back Guarantee”, “Moonshine (Friend Of Mine)”, “Werewolf” and “I’m A Stranger Here”.
Truly a Canadian phenomenon, with the iconic lyrics “And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply”, Five Man Electrical Band has become part of pop culture history.
HOLLY WOODS AND TORONTO
Toronto formed in the late 1970s in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by vocalist Annie “Holly” Woods and guitarist Brian Allen. They are best known for the hit “Your Daddy Don’t Know” which charted in the U.S. and was a top-ten single in Canada. They went on to record a number of hit singles in the early 1980’s including “Start Tellin’ the Truth”, and “Girls’ Night Out”. They also wrote and recorded the song “What About Love” which went on to be an international top-ten hit for the band “Heart” in 1985.
