Currently there are no public mandates required for entry to the Regent Theatre. Patrons are encouraged to wear a suitable mask which covers their nose and chin when attending an event. Masks are available upon request.
Stay home if you’re not feeling well, have tested positive, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.
Our policies are contingent upon current public-health conditions in Durham Region. We will continue to follow any recommendations announced by the Durham Region Health Department.
The Regent Theatre has been recognized by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario for our adoption of the worldwide industry protocols for health and hygiene. As such, we have received the “Safe Travel Stamp” which indicates the highest standards of COVID protocols for staff and patron safety.
Additionally, we have committed to the POST Promise (People Outside Safely Together), a self-declaration from a business to its customers that we are working to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The promises include; Physical Distancing, Wear a Face Cover When Required, Additional Cleaning & Preventive Measures, Screening for COVID and Encouraging Vaccination.
The Regent Theatre is pleased to announce that Gift Certificates in the amounts of $20 and $40 are now available for purchase in-person at the box office.
PLEASE NOTE: All sidewalk access to the Regent Theatre is now available.
Please remember that with the widening of the sidewalks, parking on the North side of King St E is no longer available from Ontario St to Mary St.
Did you know that the Regent Theatre is turning 100 years old this year? This historic landmark in downtown Oshawa was commissioned and built in 1919, as a Silent Movie and Vaudeville Theatre. The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is proud to be the current steward of this treasured building during this historic milestone, and to have continued the restoration work originally begun by the City of Oshawa. Please visit the History Page of our website for more details about our origins along with pictures of the original interior and exterior of the theatre.
I would like to thank all of our patrons who have supported us over the past eight years. With over one hundred events per year including Concerts, Guest Lecturers and Classic Movie Nights, more than 35,000 people walk through our doors annually. Watch for information about an official Anniversary Celebration later this year, along with free movie nights and giveaways. I encourage you to tell your friends, family and neighbours about this local treasure, and to share your fond memories of the Regent Theatre online. Here’s hoping that our current success will usher in the next 100 years!
